Top Ten Tuesday...Top Ten Foods from the Philippines I Miss the Most
I've been away from home for 4 years and 2 months exactly and I did not even notice!
I miss our home, my family and whole lot more!
For this week, I've listed down foods that I am craving for, and I will make sure that I'll have these
when I get home hopefully next year.
1. Green Mangoes and Bagoong
Ahhh, the crunch, the sourness of the mangoes and the saltiness of the bagoong makes me drool.
I remember picking some from our relatives trees and eat them together with my brothers.
2. Bibingka
The traditional Rice Cake/Bibingka are cooked on charcoal and wood.
It is made from glutinous rice or "malagkit" with brown sugar on top.
I always like the sugar if it's almost burnt.
3. Bilo-Bilo
Glutinous rice rolled in small balls and cooked with some tapioca and sugar.
Some people put in jackfruit or purple yam.
4. Espasol
I usually buy it from one of the shops near the Bus Stop when I am going to Manila.
5. Ginataang Hipon
The small shrimps cooked with coconut milk...yummy!
6. Lomi/Gotong Batangas
Our province is known for it's Lomi - a kind of noodles recipe and Goto - a type of rice porridge.
They taste good and amongst my comfort foods during the rainy season.
7. Ice Scramble
Literally, it is shaved ice and colored pink, with sugar, powdered milk and Hershey's Chocolate
Syrup on top.
8. Suman sa Lihiya
My mom would always cook this one - during Christmas, All Saints Day, etc.
It's again glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves and cooked over boiling water.
She would always make a sauce like a maple syrup one from coconut milk and sugar - I forgot what
it's called.
9. Buko Pie
One of the staple pasalubongs that Filipinos love is the Buko Pie.
When I was in college and on my way home from Los Banos to Batangas, I would see how people
lined up to buy this one from one of the famous shops there.
10. Halo-Halo
I remember buying one from our neighbor especially during summer time.
Made from different fruits, most of them are sweetened, and topped with shaved ice, slices of Leche
Flan and Halayang Ube, a little evaporated milk and if you ordered the special one, there is a scoop
or two of ice cream.

Unstuck!
I had downloaded an app which is very timely – because of what I am currently feeling – demotivated, lost and unsure.
It reminded me of a Psych Exercise that we use to do in school before.
By the name itself, Unstuck, it aims to help individuals to identify what “stuck” moment they have and suggest exercises or give tips on how to be “unstuck” from it.
It would take at least 5 minutes to complete and would then give you a diagnosis.
Try it and you'll be amazed too!

I am on Flickr!
Yay! I created an account on Flickr!
My friends and I headed down to Doha Zoo weeks back and I was
able to take some good photos I shall say.
Of course, there are some flaws when it comes to photographic
technicalities, however, the photos seem acceptable enough… thanks to Photoshop.
I was wondering if I will upload these in Facebook or have
these shared on Flickr but I ended up doing both.
A good friend of mine have hundreds of photos there and while
I was browsing, I realize it’s also good to have an account.
I have created two albums at the moment and I am still trying
to familiarize the options/menus.
I remembered that I had downloaded an app named “Stuck On
Earth” wherein people can share photos taken from different parts of the world.
It’s like having a trip and inspires you to have or plan one!
Am hoping to take and upload more photos and travel one of
these days!
Wordless Wednesday
We were craving for the Magnum Ice Cream.
Actually, I myself is just curious if it really taste that good so I had requested Hamude to treat me for one (yeah, it's his treat...I did not force him to or whatsoever) and we headed to MegaMart in The Centre hoping to find one.
We found Magnum but not the ones on the stick (like what we had seen on lots of photos on the web and social networking sites).
To uplift our spirits, we just got ourselves other ice creams which would somehow pacify the cravings.
I got the Quezo Real from Selecta and he got the ones from Ben & Jerry's and Magnum.
I think it's enough to beat the summer heat but we'll have to be careful with our tonsils.
Top Ten Tuesday...Mixed Up Movie Titles
I've discovered Top Ten Tuesday from a fellow blogger here in Doha and it's quite interesting.
To start off, I had made a top ten list of mixed up movie titles.
1. Breaking Dawn + Safe House = Breaking House
Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s vampire movie + Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington’s action-packed movie.
2. Snow White and the Huntsmen + Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants = Snow White and the Traveling Pants
Bella Swan playing Snow White? Yes, indeed + a movie that I enjoyed as a teenage girl
3. Confessions of a Shopaholic + The Black Swan = Confessions of a Swan
Rebecca/Lady in a Green Scraf’s Shopping adventures + Natalie Portman’s award-winning movie
4. Vampire’s Suck + Sucker Punch = Vampire’s Punch
A spoof about the vampire movie I loved + Vanessa Hudgen’s take on a girl-power action movie.
5. Princess Diaries + Vampire’s Suck = Princess Suck
Anne Hathaway’s + the vampires (exaggerated version)
6. Paranormal Activity + Up in the Air = Paranormal in the Air

Happy Easter Sunday!
It's been a week already!
In the Philippines, people are on their way back from vacations and out of town trips. Oh, how I miss that!
We used to eat together - my Mom would prepare sweets and eat them along with a steaming cup of brewed coffee.
That's also the time when I get the chance to meet my friends and long lost relatives.
Sigh...
I had fast and committed something with God and his answer was really quick!
One of my prayers was already answered!
I know He will do the same to the rest in His given time.
Thank you God!
Hope you have a happy and blessed Easter Sunday too!
