VCF Reflections

It was my friend France, Pogi, (we used to call each other as “Pogi” because of our short hairdos during those days) who had introduced me to Victory Christian Fellowship.

We were roommates and I always see her reading the Bible every single night and it amazed me.

Together with our friend Mary, we started attending the preaching in Robinson’s Galleria which is just a few minutes ride from our place (boarding house).

We were always on the “Magreresign na talaga ako” mode when we were still in GT (Globe Telecom) when we had started to attend.

For me, to be honest, I was looking for some meaning, I used to attend church but it seems like I do not “feel” it.

Then, there I was attending the preaching in Galleria even if I am alone.

Every moment there moved me and even made me cry.

Seeing your churchmates’ friendly faces and the Pastors’ “cool” way of delivering the messages from the Bible also encouraged me to be a part of it.

It was more of an enlightening experience.

Before I left for Doha, I had requested for a prayer and as always, He always answers our prayers – He never failed to do so.

And now that I’ve been away for almost 4 years, I am relying on the Pod Casts and I realized that maybe I could start writing about it too.

As a commitment, I shall try my best to post my reflections on the series here.

May God guide me on this task.

P.S.

My friend, Mary, had resigned from GT and is now working full time for VCF.

Randy Ortiz for Bench

It's Philippine Fashion Week!

Gosh, how I wish I could watch one.

I was reading on the tweets when I got up and was so excited when I saw the photos from the said event as posted by Style Bible.ph.

Randy Ortiz, a talented Filipino designer, had some clothes for Bench.

The clothes are stylish, elegant and very modern.

These are some of the pieces from the collection that I really adore:

I know you liked them too!

Go, Randy Ortiz!

Am Proud to be a Filipino!

P.S.

Winter is Coming

Hamude and I decided to have a quick walk in Corniche (Sea SIde) the other day.

The cool breeze is starting to creep in.

Winter is coming!

I prefer the cold season rather than the extremely hot weather here in Doha.

I had gone through my closet to check if I have enough clothes for the colder days ahead and yes I still have, but you can never blame a girl for dreaming of having these ones from Mango's Fall/Winter Collection.

And oh, do not forget the boots!

Check these lovely coats:

And these staple boots:

So, what's on your winter wish list?

I am excited!

I am sooo killligggg!

Got this photo from Yahoo!, and yes!, I am sooo excited to see Bella and Edward on the Big Screen!

Breakfast Meal

I am proud to say that I can cook this rice excellently nowadays!

Thanks to Hamude for being patient on teaching me.

Serve it with freshly sliced tomatoes and scrambled eggs...

Heaven on a plate!

Cosmo Time

Isn't it relaxing if you spare a few minutes, sitting down with a magazine on hand?

Finally, I had a chance yesterday to browse through the Cosmo mag that I got from Pinas when I was home for a quick vacation.

And they have two people on the cover...

Who won't be hooked on this month's issue?

Oktoberfest in Doha Aqua Park

It is one of the most awaited festival in the world...Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest originated in Munich, Germany wherein overflowing beer (the one made and brewed only in Munich) is served during the festival.

In the Philippines, we celebrate Oktoberfest with music band competitions and free concerts, aside from the bottomless beer of course.

My friends and I were so delighted that the OFW organization here in Doha came up with an event to celebrate this.

It was held in the Doha Aqua Park and the experience was quite good even if I preferred not to swim.

The drive was about an hour an a half outside Doha and it somewhat made us feel that we are going to a province back home.

Different Filipino groups prepared their performances to entertain the attendees.

There are food stalls selling Filipino dishes and also some booths selling stuffs, some of them were shipped from Philippines.

The swimming pools are great especially the one with the waves.

But the most important thing is that you had spent quality time with friends and family.

We were able to unwind and we had had a good laugh!

Here are some photos that I had taken.

A New Born and A Wedding

I had received these lovely give aways from friends who got married and one who had given birth.

I was surprised that they are also giving such for these occasions.

It's something that both our cultures are sharing.

I Choose to Re-use

I was overwhelmed when I had gone for vacation.

My cousin and I were in a mall and she had informed me that most shops in our place are now into using re-usable shopping bags and the plastic ones will no longer be used later.

I got this one from a mall and they have lots of designs too.

Isn’t it great?

A chic way to save the environment. Let’s help each other in our own little way.

Disconnected from the Web

It was quite an experience, a liberating one, when I had taken my quick vacation.

I was home in the Philippines for nine days to visit my Dad who just got out of the hospital recently.

It is a good one as I can say, even if I did not travel out of town.

Staying at home, watching TV and movies, sleeping a lot – I really mean A LOT, eating well were my past time during those days.

And congratulate me as I had survived without internet access the whole 9 days!

When I was in Doha, browsing the net and checking emails were some of my To-Do’s and having been cut off from these gave me a feeling of freedom and a stress-free life.

After much thought, I promised myself not to be attached too much on the World Wide Web. I shall be limiting myself on doing the Social Networking Stuffs and I’ll do more on the writing part.

Again, wish me luck on this one.
